The 230 is a aircooled motor while the 300 is more of a racing oriented motor with water cooling and higher compression personally I’d get the 300 all day just because the power comes in handy and it’ll be a more dialed bike if you’re trying to do wheelies and hooligan shit. Incandescent lights will work on a/c or d/c. L.E.D lights or fans will only operate on d/c power. This is why the later klx 250s have electric start and d/c electrical system. I contacted Baja Designs and they will rewind my stator to a 130 watt output. They also have a plug and play voltage regulator/rectifier/battery set up to convert to d/c. Both produce about the same power, but differently. DRZ is down low, KLX is up high. DRZ runs out of puff up high, but the KLX just keeps on revving.
